6 weeks check-ups
This past Wednesday, Brady & I had to made a trip to Texarkana. I had my 6 week appointment and I had made him an appointment for the same day to have his stomach checked out. I was extremely nervous about making this trip all by myself. Brady has been very fussy lately and it's just always easier when you have someone around to help. But, everyone was at work, & I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this on my own.
My appointment was at 10:15 so when Brady woke up at 5am to be fed, I fed him, pumped, then jumped in the shower while he slept. I had straightened my hair the night before, so that was one thing I didn't have to worry about doing. I got ready, got him fed & ready, pumped again, then headed out. I made it to the clinic with about 5 minutes to spare! Thank the Lord I got up when I did or I never would have made it!
I put Brady in his stroller because his carrier is so heavy and I knew I'd be doing a lot of moving around. I wasn't expecting to have to do urine & blood work, so I had to take the stroller into the restroom and where they take blood. While giving blood he started crying so I held him. Then he used the restroom, so I took him back in the restroom. There wasn't a changing table in the restroom, so I had to lay a mat down and change him on the restroom floor. While on the floor I got a cramp in my hip and Brady peed all over himself! I thought I was going to have a nervous break down right then & there! It probably took me 10 minutes to get him changed! If someone would have been filming me, I might could have won some money cause I know the whole event had to be hilarious to watch!
It was so good to see my doctor & her nurses again! I had seen them every week for 8 months, so 6 weeks without seeing them seemed like forever. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful & caring doctor. She is truly the best!
I left the clinic around 12 and met my step-dad for lunch. After lunch I headed back to the clinic to take Brady to the pediatrician. He either has colic or acid reflux! Poor baby!!! He just screams his head off sometimes and it breaks my heart. But the doc gave us some things to try to help him out and I'm hoping they will work. So far he seems to be a little be better!
So, I now know I can handle almost anything after the day I had Wednesday. However, Steven will be going back with me to the doc when we take Brady in for this 2 month shots!

1 month with Brady
Brady- 1 month
It’s so hard to believe that my baby boy is already 1 month old! This month has gone by so fast! It has been a wild and crazy month. Our lives are completely different but in a totally wonderful way. My house is a mess, I’m late everywhere I go, and I’m sleep deprived, but he’s SO worth it! Here’s what Brady has been up to this past month:
*Brady was born at 8lb 2oz. When we left the hospital on March 17th he weighed 7lb 11oz. When we took him to his first appointment on March 19th he was back up to 7lb 13oz. When we took him in for his 2 week check-up he was up to 9lb 2oz. And at 3 weeks he was 10lbs!!! He is a growing boy!!!
*I’m breastfeeding him. Actually, I pump and give it to him in a bottle. He’s now drinking 5oz.
*He does not sleep at night well at all! Occasionally he’ll sleep in his bassinette all night. On good nights he only wakes up 2 times for a feeding. He likes to sleep by me. I’m hoping we can get this changed soon!
*He has grown out of most of his newborn clothes and is wearing 0-3month clothes.
*He didn’t wear newborn diapers very long, he’s already in size 1 diapers.
*He has been out & about several times. Some people believe you should stay inside with your infants for several weeks, but I think it’s good to expose them to the outside world.
*He loves his pacifier, but honestly he prefers his thumb over the pacifier! I am doing my very best to keep his thumb out of his mouth, but it’s not easy…and it’s kind-of cute.
*Everything I’ve read says that you can’t spoil a newborn, but I think that’s wrong…He LOVES to be held and never wants to be put down.
*He makes the cutest little animal noises.
*He hates to be put in his car seat. Unless he’s asleep, he usually throws a major fit. I usually have to pull the car over and get in the back seat & hold him for a little while to get him calmed down.
*He’s got something against church. His first Sunday, he peed all over himself & Makenna. Thankfully, I had an extra pair of clothes with me. His second Sunday he took a major poop. Thankfully nothing happened yesterday!
*I left him for the first time when he was 4w1d old. He stayed with Kristian while I went to Texarkana and got a pedicure. I was only gone 2 ½ hours.
I can’t believe he’s already been here a month. I have loved every second of my time with him…even those late night feedings. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams with this sweet (and spoiled) baby boy!!!

Easter 2012
This Easter was Brady's first holiday. I love Easter...I've always enjoyed coloring eggs and hunting them. This year we didn't color any eggs...mainly because we're too busy & Brady was only 3 weeks old. I look forward to doing it next year. He did hunt some eggs, with the help of Makenna...I'm looking forward to him doing a little more of the hunting himself next year too. Here are some pictures from our first Easter with our little man.

Labor of Love
First of all, I have to apologize to all the ladies, who have blogged about their pregnancy. I get so interested in their blogs about their pregnancies, then I can’t understand why they don’t blog as much after the baby arrives. Well, now I understand. They are busy and sleepy. That’s also the reason I have been MIA since Brady was born. But, hopefully I’m back. Here’s how we got him here.
Brady’s Birth Story
Thursday, March 15th Steven & I left our house around 7:15 and headed to the hospital. We got there around 8am. That felt like one of the longest drives to Texarkana ever. I was SO nervous & excited about what was about to happen. I knew this was the last day I’d be pregnant with Brady. This was the last day Steven & I would be just a married couple…from this day on, we’d be a family. I was scared about childbirth..I was scared I wouldn’t be able to have him naturally…I was scared something might be wrong with him.
Once we were at the hospital, we were taken to a room where I got hooked up to all the monitors and they started my IV. I was happy that my nurse was going to be one of the nurses I had when I had the last baby. Nurse Jamie took very good care of me, she’s the best. (She was supposed to get off work at 7pm but stayed until Brady was born.) There were a lot of babies being born that day, so they didn’t start my Pitocin until 11:30am. At that time I was dilated to a 1 and 80% thinned out and his head was low. They continued to up my Pitocin throughout the day. During the afternoon, my doctor came back and broke my water. That was a weird feeling and I was very uncomfortable. When I was finally dilated to a 3, I got my epidural. After my epidural kicked in, I was set. I couldn’t feel or move my legs but I didn’t care, I was just happy to not be hurting anymore. I continued to make progress and was ready to push around 7:15ish… After 20-30 minutes of pushing, at 7:59pm, he was here! He weighed 8lb 2oz and was 21 inches long. He was big and healthy!!!
I cried when I saw him….It was love at first sight! Steven cut the cord. It was the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to us. Brady is such a blessing. There aren’t words to explain how much we love him.
We got to come home on Saturday, March 17th. Our lives have been crazy ever since….it’s amazing how much a little tiny person can change your lives so drastically.
Last Brady's bump picture... 38wks 6days (I wore my You Had Me at Epidural shirt so the hospital staff knew I wanted pain meds asap!) haha
Our last picture of just the 2 of us!
Things were starting to get serious! Those contractions were no joke!
Brady & Dr. Bingham...she's my hero!!! I love her so much!!!
