Catching Up

I'm so busy these days that it's hard to write stuff down....so here's me trying to do a little catch up. Last week was VBS at church. It was a successful 4 days of VBS and I'm SO thankful it's OVER!! VBS is a lot of work and I tend to stress over it since I have been in charge of organizing it for the past 3 years. This year's VBS was extra special because it was Brady's first VBS. My 3 month old was there for all 4 nights. I can't think of a better place for him to be but in the house of the Lord. Here's a pic of him in class.

Last week Steven put up an above-ground (4 ft) pool in our backyard. We have friends with pools that let us use their pool whenever we want, but with Brady, it's just too hard to load everything and go somewhere and lay out. Plus, Brady isn't fond of the heat, so even if I did go somewhere, I wouldn't be able to stay long. Brady did get in the pool for the first time the other day. He loves to take baths but wasn't to excited about the pool...I think the sun was too bright & hurting his eyes.

Yesterday, I went to the ENT to have an allergy test. I've had a terrible time this year with my sinuses and ear aches. In fact, the day I gave birth, my ears were so bad I really couldn't hear or understand what the nurses were telling me...I had to get everyone to repeat themselves over and over. I had to take 3 rounds of antibiotics before I finally got rid of that ear infection. That's when the doctor suggested I do the allergy test. So my mother-in-law kept Brady for me and I went to the dr alone. The allergy test wasn't terrible, but it wasn't pleasant either. I'm pretty much allergic to everything in NE Texas (haha...). I'm exaggerating just a little bit, but there was a lot. Afterwards, my doc came in to talk to me about the results of the allergy test. He checked my ears and my right ear had fluid in it, again! He asked me if I'd considered putting tubes in my ears & I said yes. I told him I wanted to do it asap because I don't want to have to miss any work once school starts. He said okay and left the room. I was waiting on the nurse to come back to schedule a surgery...boy was I wrong! The nurse came back and said to follow her. She took me to another room and he did the procedure right then & there!!! I'm sure my eyes were as big as saucers! Let me tell you....that crap hurt! Actually it hurt like hell! During the middle of the procedure I wanted to tell him to stop but I knew he'd already cut my eardrum...so there was no turning back. Lesson learned: Next time I'll tell him I want tubes but I want to be knocked out first!!!!

Father's Day 2012

This Father’s Day was Steven’s first Father’s Day as a daddy. It was a hectic day with church, lunch, & VBS…but hopefully he had a good day.

Here’s my “Charlie Brown” cake I made for Father’s Day. I have to be the worst cake decorator ever!

Brady loves his daddy.

3 months with Brady

Brady- 3 months
I can’t believe Brady has already been a part of our lives for 3 months now! These past 3 months have gone by so fast. I’m amazed at how much he’s changed over the past 3 months! He’s a completely different baby now compared to the day we brought him home. I honestly thought he was stay tiny a lot longer than he did.

Here’s what Brady has been up to this past month:
*I think he weighs around 14lbs. He hasn’t been back to the doctor since his 2 month checkup so that’s unofficial.
*He eats between 4-5 oz of formula each feeding (sometimes a little less). He gets 1 tbsp of rice cereal per ounce of milk.
*Until this week, Brady was sleeping through the night. I don’t know what has happened to him this week but he hasn’t slept well at all! I’m ready for the Brady who sleeps through the night to come back to us!
* He is doing good with our bedtime routine. Around 8-8:30 I can tell he’s starting to get tired… I may start putting him down sooner, but I don’t want him to start waking up earlier… I’m not really sure what I should do.
*Right now, he still sleeps in the bassinet beside our bed. I’m seriously considering moving him back to his room & his crib very soon. I definitely want him in his crib before I go back to work in August so a part of me thinks we should start fighting that battle now while I can still rest & recover during the day if it doesn’t go so well.
*He is almost too big to wear just 3 month clothing. He fits comfortably in 3 to 6 month clothes.
*He’s wearing a size 2 diaper now.
*He loves taking baths, and hates it when you take him out.
*He’s still attached to his pacifier.
*He still loves to be held but is doing much better when we put him down. He is exploring the world around him a lot more and is content being on his back playing.
*He still isn’t a fan of tummy time. I’m concerned he’s going to be delayed on rolling over and crawling because he doesn’t spend much time at all on his stomach.
*He makes the cutest little animal noises.
*He is doing a lot better in his infant carrier. I still sit in the back seat with him when someone is in the car with us, but he’s doing a lot better.
*He’s doing a lot better in church. I have actually been able to sit through an entire service without having to take him out a couple of times.
*He smiles all the time.
* He is really starting to try to talk more and more. It’s so cute to carry on a conversation with him.
*His new trick is blowing bubbles!
*He drools all the time. I’m wondering if he’s about to cut a tooth?? My mom said I cut my first tooth at 4 months…so I guess it’s possible that could happen to him as well.
*His eyes are still blue.
*He’s getting more and more hair on top, but starting to lose a little in the back where he lays all the time. *He’s holding his head up all the time.
*He followings things with his eyes and will move his head to follow something.
*He tries to stand up when you hold him up.
* He is fascinated by his hands. He will hold them out and just stare at them. He’s also chewing on his hands a lot more these days.
*He has no problem at all with letting you know that he’s unhappy. He can throw some major fits.

So that’s what my little man has been up to this past month. I fall more & more in love with him each day.

Greatest Grandparents

I know I’m a little bias, but I honestly have the most wonderful grandparents in the whole world. They’ve been a huge part of my life from the very beginning and I feel so blessed to still have them alive and healthy. However, they’re getting older and it’s starting to show. They don’t get around as well as they used to, they get sick more often and when they do get sick, it takes them longer to recover, and they are starting to become more and more forgetful. So, I’m trying to spend as much time as possible with them because I want them to be a huge part of Brady’s life too! My grandmother is so sassy...she loves babies and babies love her! My grandpa is the sweetest man I know...you don't get much better than him!

Mother/Daughter Lunch

This past Sunday one of my oldest best friends, Neelie, and her mama came over for lunch after Sunday morning church services. They also brought baby Randon with them. Randon is almost exactly one month younger than Brady and I haven't seen him since he was born so I was excited to get to see him again. I was so surprised at how much Randon had grown since I'd last saw him in the hospital. It was so nice for my mom and I to visit with Neelie and Sybil. Neelie and I were very close growing up but kind-of went our separate ways after I left for Denton way back in 2001. But our pregnancies brought us back together. We were only ~4 weeks apart in due dates so we pretty much were going to everything at the same time. It was nice to compare notes and be there for each other. Now, we get to do the same thing with our little boys. I hope Randon and Brady will be friends like Neelie and I were. They don't live in the same town, but hopefully we can get together often for play dates.
