It's Cinco de Mayo...so let's laugh!

Well folks, today is my Birthday Eve!!! It's my last day to be 35 years old...tomorrow I'll wake up and be 36. *sigh* I'm going to blame not posting my Hump Day Humor post on my advanced age...lol. (just kidding...I'm still young, but I have to have an excuse for not remembering to blog yesterday other than I just totally forgot, which is the truth). So, here's a few pictures to put a smile on your face. Hope you have a great Thursday and get to enjoy some Mexican food today....I've requested fajitas for my Birthday Eve dinner (trust me, I take full advantage of my birthday week).  :)

Hello Monday!

It's been a wild and wet weekend for us. And can you believe it's already May??? Which means....this is my BIRTHDAY WEEK!!! I'm holding on to 35 by a fingernail....

Friday we took a quick trip to Dallas to see the GI doctor. All the girls are looking good. Gracie and Tessa got their g-buttons out and we are so excited about that!!!

 Saturday we were suppose to go to Longview for the March of Dimes, but of course, it rained and we didn't want to go all the way to Longview and get rained on so we didn't get to go this year, but we did have a team and have raised money for a great cause. We did put our shirts on and take a walk around the neighborhood.

My sweet 29 weekers.

 Today Mia had a swallow study at Children's in Dallas. She did not want any part of the whole process and we didn't get a lot of answers but we are going to start thickening her feeds again like when she was little and hopefully she'll start drinking more. We did see, from what little she did drink, that she didn't have any penetration of milk into her lungs, which is an improvement but we didn't have much to go off of from her poor performance so we're going to thicken to be safe.

She was okay in the chair until the lights were dimmed and the x-ray machine was put in place.

Love this girl.

At least someone was having fun. lol

 Then we had to treat ourselves to Tex-Mex before heading home.

By the way, it was freezing (60 degrees) in Dallas today. We were dressed like it was May and it felt like it was February.
Crazy Texas weather! I'm over it!

You can't be my child unless you like ice cream... It is a requirement. lol

Tube Free: Gracie & Tessa

So yesterday we made the 6 hour round trip to Dallas to see the GI Doctor. We knew back in February that Gracie was getting her g-button (feeding tube) out today. She hasn't used her button since September. I wasn't sure if Tessa would get hers out or not, but I was hoping she would. She hasn't been using her tube since February. The doctor checked over both of their growth charts and examined them and decided they were both healthy enough to live without their tubes!! I can't tell you how proud I am of these two girls, they are so amazing. I've had several people ask me if the girls are doing okay since having the tubes removed and the answer is yes, they are doing amazing. The tube stays in their bellies by inflating a balloon with water. All the doctor did was deflate the balloon (by using a syringe to pull water out of the balloon) and pull the tube out, that was it. We will keep the hole covered for a few days but that's all. The hole should close up on its own in a few days to weeks.

Updates on Mia and Rayleigh:
The GI Doctor was tempted to take Rayleigh's tube out yesterday too but decided to wait a few more months. So if she continues to eat well and grow she will probably get hers out in July!!!!

Now Mia is a whole other story, she never does things the easy way. Monday, I'm taking her to have another swallow study and after we get those results we'll come up with a new game plan to help her use her tube less. No matter what we find out Monday, we are going to thicken her liquids. Hopefully she'll start taking steps in the right direction.

Steven and I are so thankful to everyone who has prayed for us and our kids along the way. I'm so thankful to be where we are today with 6 healthy children. The quints have come so far in 2 years and continue to grow stronger and healthier each day. We give God all the glory and praise for our sweet blessings and this blessed life we enjoy.

Please continue to keep our family, especially the quints, in your prayers as we continue to work towards getting them where they need to be health-wise and developmentally. It's been a struggle at times and feels so good to be where we are at today.
